-by Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Minister of State for Skill Development and entrepreneurship, Govt of India, inaugurated the Center of Excellence in Skill Development in Industrial Robotics at he Manipal Skill Development Center (MSDC) at Dr.T. M. A. Pai Polytechnic Campus, on 17th October, 2023. The Robotics Center has Five state-of-the-art industrial articulated robotic stations:
1) The industrial spray painting cell, designed to teach students and industry professionals the techniques for smooth and even finishes of paint using robots.
2) Spot welding robot utilised for joining diverse sheet metal items and battery cells. The robots here are used to teach students the basics of EV battery cell manufacturing.
3) Multi Application robot for industrial gluing, ogistics parcel sorting, coloured part sorting, boxpalletising, material sensing, magnetic pick and place, voice command and industrial spraying.
4) Another Industrial Robot for voice command, colour sensing, material sensing, vacuum gripping, 2D path following and magnetic pick and places.
5) Bare five axis industrial articulated robotic arm fully operational, with all its working components visible for learning internal mechanism of the robots, including sensors, motors, gears and pullies.
The Robotics Center of Excellence is one among sixteen skill schools at MSDC which include robotics, 3D Printing, CNC training, wood working, Drone technology, digital Printing, industrial automation, IOT, PCB design & prototyping, Power and energy systems, Refrigeration & air-conditioning, Animation technology, Beauty & wellness, Interior design, automobile servicing and electric vehicle technology.
MSDC has been established by Dr TMA Pai Foundation with the aim of empowering the local youth with employment related skills and for creating a model skill center in skills of the future.
