Manipal, September 27, 2025 — The Manipal Skill Development Centre (MSDC) hosted a Board of Studies (BOS) meeting at its Conference Hall to deliberate on the proposed One-Year Diploma Course in Counselling. The meeting was jointly organized by the Manasa Educational Foundation for Mental Health (MEFFMH), Shivamogga, and MSDC, Manipal.
The session was chaired by Brig (Dr) Surjit Singh Pabla, Chairman, MSDC, along with Dr. Preethi Shanbhag, Chairman, Dr. Anjaiah D, Registrar, MSDC, Dr. Sandhyakaveri, Co-ordinator, MEFFMH, Rajalaxmi Anandan, Co-ordinator, MSDC, and other BOS members and invitees.
Key highlights of the meeting included:
- Finalization of the course structure and objectives of the Diploma in Counselling.
- Review of programme outcomes, designed to equip students with professional counselling skills.
- Deliberation on evaluation methods, covering theory, practicum, and assessment schemes.
- Confirmation of collaboration through an MoU between MEFFMH and MSDC, with MEFFMH managing academic delivery and MSDC overseeing assessments and certification.
It was resolved that the Diploma will span 12 months — comprising 11 months of intensive training followed by one month of summative evaluation. The curriculum will feature a blend of core, special, and practical courses. The final certificate will be awarded by MSDC.
The meeting concluded with the approval of academic frameworks, the appointment of the Board of Examiners (BOE) Chairperson, and a vote of thanks delivered by the MSDC Co-ordinator.
